Terms & Conditions
Last updated 13 August 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and She Woke Up Sober ("SWOS", "we", "us"), the provider of the She Woke Up Sober app and website. By creating an account or continuing to use the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.
Who may use SWOS
SWOS is a women-only service and accounts are for women. You must be of legal age in your country to enter a contract, and if you are using SWOS on behalf of an organisation you confirm you have authority to bind it. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity under your account, and for giving us accurate information and keeping it up to date.
What SWOS is — and is not
SWOS is a personal sobriety companion made for women: day counting, check-ins, craving tracking, an AI companion, reminders, a private circle and an anonymous community. It is a self-help tool. It is not medical care, therapy, addiction treatment, crisis support or a sponsor, and nothing in the app is medical advice. Content generated by the AI companion may be inaccurate or incomplete and should never be relied on in place of a qualified professional. If you are in danger or experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.
Acceptable use
You must not misuse the service. In particular, you must not:
- use SWOS for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse or endanger another person;
- commit fraud, spam, or impersonate anyone in the community channels;
- infringe anyone's intellectual property or post content you have no right to share;
- interfere with the security of the service — malware, probing, scraping, automated bulk access, or attempts to circumvent technical or plan limits;
- reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the service;
- use the AI companion to generate illegal content, hate speech, deepfakes, malware, or to attempt to jailbreak safety behaviour.
We may remove or restrict content, refuse or filter AI outputs, and moderate the anonymous community, including automatically. You are responsible for what you write and for how you use anything the app produces.
Your content
Your journal entries, check-ins, cravings and reflections remain yours. You grant us a limited licence to host and process that content solely so we can provide the service to you. Community posts are published anonymously to other members under a generated alias.
Our intellectual property
We own the service and everything in it — software, design, branding and documentation. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use SWOS within the plan you have selected.
Service level
We work to keep SWOS available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Payment and subscriptions
Paid plans are monthly, yearly or a one-time lifetime purchase, at the prices shown on our pricing page. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time. Payment, billing, tax, invoicing, cancellation and refund mechanics are handled by Paddle and governed by the Paddle Buyer Terms. See our Refund Policy as well.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, a security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. You may close your account at any time. When access ends, you can export your entries for 30 days, after which your data is deleted or anonymised.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages, including loss of profits, data or goodwill, and our total aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not allow it.
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your unlawful use of the service, or your breach of these terms.
General
You may not assign your rights without our consent; we may assign ours in a merger or acquisition. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of the province of Ontario, Canada, and disputes will be heard by the courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer law in your country says otherwise.
